9A

In all truth, it was very hard to find people who seemed to have the need (every person I interviewed either has a scooter or rides one at least occasionally) and didn’t support the idea of having a separate road for scooters. When I did finally find some people who felt that way, all but one said they wouldn’t use it because they wouldn’t want to pay for another decal. The fifth person just didn’t believe that UF would support such a large project.

Though these people all have scooters or frequently ride on scooters of their friends, they are all used to being on the same roads as cars and don’t know how much of a difference. One girl, a third-year UF student with a scooter, said she would like to use it on a trial basis; that is, get to use the road for free for about a week and see how she liked it and if it would be worth paying for. At no time did I say how much the decal would cost, so I assume that all of them just assumed it would be the same price as a campus parking decal, which most people think is overpriced. I asked them how much they would be willing to pay, and the highest anyone said was $50 per semester, but more if it included additional parking.

INSIDE
OUTSIDE
Students with scooters willing to pay for decal, professors and staff with scooters,
Students not willing to pay for another decal, students who don’t have a scooter, local residents who don’t go through campus
Separate road for scooters and smaller vehicles
Transportation help for people without scooters
Traffic congestion gets very bad during school days with both scooters and cars on the road, danger with having scooters and cars on the same road
Not everyone will pay for another decal, people will still have to use roads on their scooters outside of campus, not everyone has a scooter

  1. Hello Megan,

I think that charging for a decal for this service may be the wrong way to go about it. I think a more efficient way that could be appealing for students would be a toll system. This way students can only use the lane when they need to, whether they are late for class or just need to get to campus quickly. As long as the price is something understandable like 25-35 cents I think students would happily pay. As for the decal you can still offer it to those who know they will take it every day.

  2. Hi again! So maybe if this project goes somewhere you would have to take it to UF and see maybe if they can just add to their parking decal an extra amount of oney like for example $20 more and that goes towards your benefit? Because i dont think anyone would want to pay 2 separate decals being the UF that high.

30 Final

I think my favorite experience with this class is the interactive nature of it. If we weren’t in the small groups, we wouldn’t have had the chance to see each other’s ideas evolve and grow. It was nice to have a few specific ideas that we could follow along with our own. I don’t think of myself as an Entrepreneur quite yet, but I do think I have a different perspective on things. To those who come into the course, I would say be creative in your posts. The more you invest in your posts, the less it will seem like an assignment and the more it will seem like something you’ve created.

14A- Tenacity

1)     This course has assignments that require more of you than just waiting until 8 PM the night of the due date and throwing out any answer. Going into this course, I didn’t realize how open-ended these assignments were, meaning I thought my answers were one of a million, but after reading the posts from others in my group, I realized we all have such different perspectives on how we approached problems. After I picked up on that, I began seeing the value in these posts and looked at them as much more than a simple assignment. I think one of the best ways to keep up with this course is to take a second to realize the value behind each assignment, and take them seriously. 2)     I think one of my most memorable “giving up” moments would have to be in freshman year of high school. I got sick and would get incredibly tired to the point where I couldn’t lift my arms, but I went to doctors for almost a year without getting diagnosed. That was one of the h...

25A What's Next?

Existing Market: 1.      What’s Next: There will be no service workers that actually work in the field. The only workers would work in an office or in a remote location where people could purchase details or go for customer service. I would also need to heavily market the product and work on pricing. 2.      After the interviews, I learned from my interviewees that they would prefer a better pricing option than that of UF or Gainesville parking decals. They agreed that, with a product like this that would significantly improve their everyday life, they would be willing to pay a decent amount of money similar to that of UF’s, but would like an option for monthly or quarterly pricing. 3.      For the future, I think the plan would need to focus on improving the current, most similar service, parking. Decals are very present on this campus and I wouldn’t want to introduce something too drastically different than what peop...
