My customer avatar would be, first and foremost, a college
student who owns a scooter. The age would range from 16-25. The gender could be
male or female. For this example, I’ll use a female. In addition, she would
have to be someone who has enough money to be able to buy and keep up with a
scooter in addition to tuition and college life. She is someone who is
regularly on campus, and stays predominantly in Gainesville during the school
year. She is someone who is social and a great network for spreading news
(about, say, this new product). Her hobbies include gong to the gym and going
out with her friends, as she is willing to put a little extra money on the side
for her social life. She may or may not be associated with greek life, but
either way she has friends on both sides. She would drive something along the
lines of a Jeep Liberty or a Volkswagen Jetta. She watches TV shows that have a
large fan base, such as Game of Thrones, Friends, This is Us and The Bachelor.
She would most likely be from Florida and has lived here her whole life. She’s
not a huge reader; most of her free time is used on going out, watching Netflix,
or listening to music. She loves both country or rap, it depends on the day.
She also has no idea what she wants to do after college, but tries not to think
about it and pretends she can stay in college forever.
I have a lot in common with my avatar. I also have a
scooter, I’m associated with Greek life, and I love the show Friends. I think
none of these are of coincidence. When I tried to think of my opportunities a
long time ago, I thought of “bugs” pertaining to me. When I came up with a
decent solution, it aligned very well with me and my lifestyle because it was a
solution to my problem. Therefore, I want to market this to people who have the
same problem as I, so they will have similar attributes.

Really well written post, Megan. You did a great job fleshing out all of the characteristics and interests of your customer avatar and I had a good idea of what that person is like and also a vivid picture of them in my head. Unlike yours, who has a lot in common with you, mine falls in a much different demographic than I do.

ReplyDeleteI like your avatars, it’s awesome that you went above and beyond and decided to make two different ones. I did notice however that they don’t look like the normal avatars we were supposed to create based on the link he gave us. I don’t think this is an issue at all, it was cool to see your avatar with a background rather than just a cartoon.
