1)You.
My name is Megan Carney. I am a
third-year advertising student at the University of Florida. I’ve lived in
Florida my whole life and love it here. I consider myself a part of the UF and
Gainesville community and I know a lot of friends who feel the same way. Like
many other UF students, I have a scooter here in Gainesville. One thing
that I deal with on almost a daily basis as a scooter owner is getting stuck in
traffic when I’m riding my scooter around traffic. Being on the same road as
cars can get scary sometimes, as there are different speeds, sizes, and blind
spots.
2) What
are you offering to customers?
I’m offering customers a path that would cut through a college
campus and allow scooters and smaller vehicles to get off the road and into a
safer and more efficient way of travel.
3) Who are you offering it
to?
This road can be used by faculty or by students, and even
Gainesville residents, but after review I realize it would be mostly students
on scooters using it.
4) Why
do they care?
This road will be more safe for daily travel
and it will significantly decrease traffic at peak times, such as in between
classes and lunchtime. This would be catered specifically to universities, but
could work for other areas. It would be specifically made for scooters so it
would be different from any road services.
5) What
are your core competencies? This service is unlike other travel /pavement services because it is
specifically for smaller vehicles. It is similar to the idea of a bike lane,
but removes the lane entirely from the danger of being near cars considering
bike lanes can still be very dangerous. This also is unique because it is for
colleges, which constantly bring in new customers.
I still
think my elements mesh well with each other. College students are such a great
market for my product, not to mention they are already in the same region where
product would be. The only disjoint idea I have is whether or not this is
unique and how to keep people from copying the idea.
The feedback I received helped me
realize what points I needed to emphasize and which weren’t as important. One
piece of feedback I received that pleased me was about the dual-natured benefit
that comes from this idea of not only helping people with scooters but also
clearing up traffic. In addition, I was happy to see that someone saw the
importance of the safety aspect specifically, because I wasn’t sure if people
would care. Moving forward, I definitely want to make sure to emphasize it.
Hey Megan,
ReplyDeleteYou did an awesome job on this napkin idea. It was written very well and you went into such detail about your characteristics. I absolutely love your idea, I think it would greatly help both those who drive mopeds and those who drive cars. I know one of my parents biggest concerns about driving a moped is the safety aspect of it and this would go a long way in solving this issue.
I think your idea is so great and would be extremely beneficial to UF students, especially because of how popular scooters are here. I agree that they can be very dangerous on the main road with cars and lots of traffic. This path seems like a safer and faster alternative. It would also clear up some road traffic as well.
